At DART, we know your questions and needs don’t always fit neatly into business hours. Whether you’re trying to plan a last-minute bus trip, pay your fare or report a lost item after hours, we’ve got you covered.

While our Customer Service team is available Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on Sundays, there are additional ways to find what you need. Below we've gathered expert tips and resources every rider should know — so you’re never left wondering what to do when Customer Service is unavailable.

How do I buy passes when Customer Service is closed?

For the convenience of our riders, bus passes and tokens are available for purchase at nearly 20 pass sales outlets throughout the Des Moines metro. These locations are a handy option to buy your bus fare when DART Customer Service is not available.

Riders may also buy a ticket using the MyDART app.

Or simply bring cash when boarding the bus. If you are using cash, please remember to bring the exact fare as bus operators cannot give change.

Where can I find bus schedules? How do I plan my trip?

If you're using a smart phone, the MyDART app is your all-in-one tool for riding DART. In addition to purchasing tickets, you can plan your trip using the Trip Planner feature and find bus arrival times using the Next DART Bus feature within the app. The app is available for Android and Apple devices. Learn more about the MyDART app by reading these frequently asked questions.

DART’s system route map provides an overview of available services. Locate your starting point and destination on the map to find the route (or routes) that best meet your needs. Once you decide on the route that is convenient for you, determine when to make your trip using route-specific bus schedules. For more detailed information about reading schedule brochures, visit the Reading Schedules web page.

Printed schedules for DART's bus routes are also available at DART Central Station.

Web tools, including Google Maps and Bing Maps, offer DART routes built into their travel directions. Simply enter your trip details and click on the transit or bus icon to see DART's available bus routes and times. Our Trip Planner tool also is available online.

How do I report an issue when Customer Service isn't available?

There are several ways to notify DART's team of your concern. You can submit a complaint, issue or lost item help request through the Contact Us form on DART's website. The Customer Service team will receive your note the following business day. You can also leave a voicemail with DART Customer Service at (515) 283-8100. The Customer Service team strives to get back to riders in a timely manner.

Additionally, DART has feedback forms available at DART Central Station. Fill out the paper form and submit it at the Customer Service window, even when the window is not staffed by a team member.

If the matter is urgent, you can notify the Operator while you are on the bus, and they can contact additional DART team members such as the Supervisor on duty. Of note, there is a security guard at DART Central Station at all times, 24/7.
